FreshlyDried Soursop

About our Superfruit Soursop:

Soursop, also known as Graviola or soursop, is a fruit native to the tropical regions of America and the Caribbean. It is a broad-leaved evergreen tree that thrives in conditions of high humidity and warm winters. The fruit has a unique flavor, described as a combination of strawberries, apple and tart citrus, with a creamy banana-like texture. The fruit is widely grown and consumed in many tropical and subtropical regions of the world.

Soursop fruit contains edible white pulp, fiber, and black seeds that are normally indigestible. Its pulp is used in a variety of ways, including making fruit nectar, smoothies, fruit juices, candies, sorbets, and ice cream flavorings. This fruit and its derived products are widely consumed in many countries, such as Jamaica, Mexico, Brazil, Venezuela, Colombia, and Fiji. Street food vendors often sell fresh fruit juices made from soursop, and in Indonesia, it is known as sirsak and is used to make dodol sirsak, a caramelized sweet. In the Philippines it is called guyabano and is eaten ripe or used in juices, smoothies, or ice cream. The leaves are sometimes used to tenderize meat. In Vietnam, it is used in smoothies, while in Cambodia it is known as Tearb Barung. In Malaysia, it is called durian belanda and is used in desserts such as ais kacang. Soursop leaves are also used in Indonesia as a herbal medicine, often boiled to make tea.

Raw soursop is primarily composed of water, with 81% water content, along with 17% carbohydrates, 1% protein, and negligible fat. In a 100 gram serving, raw soursop provides 276 kilojoules (66 kilocalories) of food energy. It contains a significant amount of vitamin C, providing 25% of the daily value. However, there are no other micronutrients present in appreciable amounts.
